Hamirpur Dominates at 12th Himachal Pradesh State Junior Kho Kho Championship

Bilaspur, November 11, 2025: The 12th Himachal Pradesh State Junior Kho Kho Championship for Boys and Girls concluded with great enthusiasm at Government Senior Secondary School, Jukhala, Bilaspur, on Sunday (November 9, 2025). Hamirpur district showcased outstanding performances to emerge as the overall champion, lifting both the Boys’ and Girls’ titles after two days of intense competition and spirited play.

The championship was organized by the Himachal Pradesh Kho Kho Association under the aegis of the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI), drawing participation from eight districts — Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Bilaspur, Una, Mandi, Kullu, and Hamirpur. The event highlighted the growing enthusiasm for Kho Kho among the youth of Himachal Pradesh.

In the Girls’ final, Hamirpur displayed remarkable coordination and speed to defeat Mandi with a convincing 12–7 scoreline, clinching victory by five points. The Boys’ final saw an intense contest between Hamirpur and Sirmaur, where Hamirpur narrowly triumphed 10–9, winning by just one point and one inning, showcasing their grit and composure under pressure.

The championship was inaugurated on November 8, 2025, by Shri Satdev Sharma, Secretary, BJP Kisan Morcha, Himachal Pradesh, who motivated players to uphold discipline, sportsmanship, and dedication in their sporting journey.

The event concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony graced by Shri Vikas Thakur, Former Secretary, H.P. Congress Committee, who congratulated the winning teams and appreciated the association’s efforts in nurturing indigenous sports like Kho Kho at the grassroots level.

For their stellar performances, Rahul from Hamirpur was honored as the Best Player (Boys), while Kritika Rana, also from Hamirpur, received the Best Player (Girls) award.

The championship not only celebrated the athletic excellence of young players but also reaffirmed Himachal Pradesh’s commitment to preserving and promoting traditional Indian sports like Kho Kho.
