Mumbai, July 29, 2025: In a significant boost to the promotion of indigenous sports, the All India Electricity Sports Control Board (AIESCB) has officially included Kho Kho in its Annual Calendar of Sports Activities for 2025–26.
The decision was made during the Annual General Body Meeting held in Mumbai, marking a historic moment for the traditional Indian sport. With this inclusion, Kho Kho will now be featured alongside other mainstream sports in competitions organized under the banner of the Electricity Sports Board, which comprises players and employees from power sector organizations across the nation.
This move is seen as a major step toward the mainstreaming and institutional support of Kho Kho, especially among government and public sector units. It opens new avenues for players and enthusiasts of the sport, giving them a platform to showcase their talent and encouraging wider participation at the national level.
Sports promoters and federations have welcomed the decision, calling it “a progressive move” that will help sustain and grow the reach of Kho Kho in organized sporting circles.
