Gopalganj is all set to host the much-anticipated Asmita Khelo India Women’s Kho Kho League for Under-14 and Under-18 categories at Minj Stadium. Organized jointly by the Bihar State Sports Authority and the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar, the event is supported by the Union Sports Ministry, Sports Authority of India, and the Kho Kho Federation of India. The District Administration, Gopalganj, is taking the lead in hosting this grand event.
Neeraj Kumar Pappu, Secretary of the Kho Kho Association of Bihar, announced that the league comes with substantial prize money. The winning team in each category will receive Rs 2.75 lakh, while the runners-up will bag Rs 1.75 lakh. Two teams finishing third will be awarded Rs 75,000 each. Besides team prizes, glittering trophies and individual awards will also be distributed to recognize exceptional performances.
District Sports Officer Abdul Rashid highlighted the meticulous preparations underway to ensure the league’s success. Three brand-new courts are being constructed at Minj Stadium, with excellent arrangements for player accommodation and meals. He assured that player comfort and well-being are top priorities.
Adding to the preparations, Gopalganj District Magistrate Prashant Kumar CH (IAS) recently conducted a comprehensive review meeting. He directed officials to prioritize security, hospitality, and other essential arrangements for players, technical staff, and dignitaries. Deputy Development Commissioner Kumar Nishant Vivek and other senior officials were also present during the review.
With teams arriving in Gopalganj, the excitement is building. Secretary Neeraj Kumar Pappu confirmed the arrival of Karnataka’s team and the host team from Bihar. The league promises to showcase thrilling matches and exceptional talent while providing a platform to promote women’s participation in sports through the Khelo India initiative.
