Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu – The Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) is set to host the much-anticipated South Zone Inter University Kho Kho Tournament for Men 2024–25. The event will be held from 27 December 2024 to 31 December 2024 at CUTN’s state-of-the-art Kho Kho facilities, marking another milestone in the university’s commitment to promoting sports excellence.
The tournament will kick off on 27 December 2024 at 8:00 AM, with an inauguration ceremony presided over by Subhash Kumar, DIG SSB (Retd), Director Coordination, Administration Kho Kho Federation of India. The event will also witness the esteemed presence of Prof. M. Krishnan, Vice Chancellor and Chief Patron of the tournament, who will preside over the opening ceremony.
CUTN has meticulously prepared for this grand event, with four dedicated Kho Kho grounds near the Multipurpose Hall and Indoor Stadium ensuring smooth execution. Over five action-packed days, a total of 76 matches will be played, with each ground hosting eight matches daily.
This year’s tournament is set to welcome an impressive lineup of 80 teams and 1,000 to 1,200 participants from universities across Southern India. It builds upon the success of last year’s South Zone Inter University Kho Kho Tournament for Women, where 62 teams and 930 participants showcased their skills.
The event is organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, established in 2023 under the leadership of Prof. M. Krishnan, Vice Chancellor, CUTN. The department, which also offers a Ph.D. in Physical Education and a Postgraduate Diploma in Fitness Management, is headed by Dr. S. Jayaraman, who serves as the Organizing Convenor for the tournament.
