Patna: The Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna witnessed an overwhelming response as a large number of players gathered for the Kho-Kho selection trials on Sunday. Organised under the auspices of the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar and supervised by the Bihar State Sports Authority, the trials aimed to select the Bihar Boys and Girls Kho-Kho teams for the upcoming Khelo India Youth Games 2025.

The selection trials were inaugurated by Raveendran Sankaran, Director General of the Bihar State Sports Authority, who performed the traditional ritual of breaking a coconut and offering prayers. Expressing his delight at the massive participation, Sankaran assured that the government would enhance its efforts to promote Kho-Kho in Bihar.

The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of several dignitaries, including Ravindra Nath Choudhary, Director of the Bihar State Sports Authority. Neeraj Kumar Pappu, Secretary of the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar, extended a warm welcome to all attendees. He revealed that around 1,700 boys and girls from different districts across Bihar took part in the selection trials. The trials were conducted on two courts, and 25 players will be chosen for both the boys’ and girls’ teams.

Following the trials, a training camp is set to be organised next month, where national-level coaches from outside Bihar will provide specialised training to the selected players. The final squad will be announced after the completion of the camp.
The large-scale participation in the trials reflects the growing enthusiasm for Kho-Kho in Bihar, and with focused training and development, the selected teams are expected to make a strong impact at the Khelo India Youth Games 2025
