Patiala Dominates Punjab State Junior Kho Kho Championship 2025 in Hoshiarpur

Hoshiarpur, November 3, 2025 — Patiala reaffirmed its supremacy in state-level Kho Kho as its teams clinched both the boys’ and girls’ titles at the Punjab State Junior Kho Kho Championship 2025, held on November 2 and 3 at Rayat Bahra Professional University, Hoshiarpur.

Organized by the Kho Kho Association of Hoshiarpur under the aegis of the Kho Kho Association of Punjab and the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI), the championship featured spirited participation from Under-18 teams representing 15 districts across Punjab.

In the girls’ category, Patiala emerged as champions with a commanding 18–4 victory over Sangrur in the final. The host district, Hoshiarpur, delighted the home crowd by securing third place with a 22–18 win over Muktsar. Among the standout individual performers, Snehpreet Kaur of Patiala was honoured as Best Defender, while Jashanpreet Kaur of Sangrur earned the Best Attacker title.

The boys’ category followed a similar storyline of Patiala’s dominance, as the team defeated Jalandhar 22–7 in a one-sided final to complete a remarkable championship double. In the third-place playoff, Hoshiarpur edged out Ludhiana 14–12 in a nail-biting encounter. Jagtar Singh of Patiala received the Best Attacker award, and Sushil Kumar of Jalandhar was named Best Defender for his disciplined and consistent performances.

The closing ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Shri Brahm Shankar Jimpa, Member of Legislative Assembly from Hoshiarpur, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Other notable guests included Shri Gurpreet Singh, District Sports Officer, Hoshiarpur; Shri Upkar Singh Virk, General Secretary of KKFI and the Kho Kho Association of Punjab; Sardar Jagajit Singh, District Sports Coordinator; and Satnam Singh, President of the District Kho Kho Association, Hoshiarpur. They jointly presented awards and extended congratulations to all teams for their spirited performances.

The two-day event showcased Punjab’s rising kho kho talent and reflected the sport’s growing popularity and structured grassroots development across the state. Participating teams hailed from Patiala, Sangrur, Mansa, Bathinda, Muktsar, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Moga, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, and Gurdaspur.

The championship not only highlighted Patiala’s dominance but also reaffirmed the vital role of state-level competitions in nurturing young talent and preparing them for national and international stages, reinforcing Kho Kho’s expanding footprint in Punjab’s sporting landscape.
