State-Level School Girls’ Kho-Kho Competition Begins in Bhagalpur with Great Fanfare

Bhagalpur, 25October 2024 – The much-anticipated Bihar Inter-District School Girls’ Kho-Kho Competition kicked off successfully in Bhagalpur today, drawing students and sports enthusiasts from across the state. This state-level competition, organized under the auspices of the Sports Department, Bihar, and the Bihar State Sports Authority, is hosted by the District Administration of Bhagalpur at the Sandis Compound Ground. The competition features categories for girls under 14, 17, and 19.

The grand inauguration ceremony was presided over by District Officer Dr. Naval Kishore Chaudhary, joined by Information and Public Relations Officer Nagendra Prasad, Neeraj Kumar, General Secretary of the Bihar Kho-Kho Association, and Bhagalpur’s District Sports Officer Jai Narayan Kumar. The officials inaugurated the event by releasing balloons and greeting the players, setting an energetic tone for the competition.

The District Officer formally launched the tournament by hoisting the event flag, with support from prominent attendees, including Manas Kumar Yadav, Mohammad Nasir Alam, Neeraj Rai, Mrinal Kishore, and Technical Officer Bittu Kumar, along with local sports enthusiasts and officials.

In the Under-19 category:

  • Bhagalpur emerged victorious over Jamui with a 12-point lead in one inning.
  • Munger defeated East Champaran.
  • Vaishali triumphed over Muzaffarpur.
  • Kaimur outplayed Sheikhpura.
  • Siwan secured a win against Saharsa.
  • Darbhanga defeated Nalanda.
  • Madhubani bested Bhojpur.
  • Bhagalpur clinched another victory, this time against Begusarai.
  • Munger again won, defeating Nalanda.

The opening day showcased spirited performances from teams across the districts, with players demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and dedication. The competition will continue over the coming days, bringing more excitement and showcasing the emerging talent in Bihar’s Kho-Kho community.
