Dream Kho Kho League to Debut in Bhurigaun, Nepal

In a significant step towards promoting Kho Kho in Nepal, the inaugural Dream Kho Kho League is set to take place in Bhurigaun. Organized by the Nepal Kho Kho Association and managed by the Lumbini Province Kho Kho Association, the league is being promoted by the National Sports Council and the Lumbini Province Government. Additionally, the Thakur Baba Municipality, Bardiya will serve as the primary promoter of the event.

The competition will feature six teams, each composed of a balanced mix of talent, including one international, two national, three provincial, and six district-level players. Each team will also include a coach and a manager to ensure smooth functioning and strategic gameplay. This information was shared by Kshatra Bahadur Shahi, Senior Vice President of the Nepal Kho Kho Association, during a recent press conference.

The press conference witnessed the presence of prominent personalities, including Nirmal Ghimire, President of the Nepali Journalists’ Federation Bardiya; Khagendra Bahadur Shahi, Central Member of the Lumbini Province Kho Kho Association; and Nepal’s national players Sunam Tharu and Jhalak B. A. Several media personnel were also present at the event.

Adding an extra layer of excitement, the event will also feature a group dance competition titled Kho Kho Idol. This cultural addition aims to engage the audience and further promote the sport in Nepal.

With the Dream Kho Kho League’s vision to uplift Kho Kho’s presence in the region, it is expected to play a vital role in nurturing talent and popularizing the sport across Nepal.
