Sahjanwa witnessed the grand conclusion of the three-day Chief Minister’s Cup State-Level Championship on Saturday, organised to mark the birth centenary year of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The state-level Handball and Kho Kho (Senior Men) competitions were held at the Mini Stadium, Sahjanwa.
In the Kho Kho final, Prayagraj delivered an impressive performance to defeat host team Gorakhpur and lift the championship trophy. Earlier in the day, Gorakhpur secured a place in the final by defeating Varanasi by three points in the first semi-final. In the second semi-final, Prayagraj outplayed the Devipatan Division team, registering a convincing six-point victory.
The final clash between Prayagraj and Gorakhpur showcased high-quality and competitive Kho Kho. Playing with aggressive intent, Prayagraj overcame the hosts by four points to claim the title. Gorakhpur finished as runners-up, while the Devipatan Division secured third place.
In the Handball final, the UP Police team emerged champions by defeating Gorakhpur Division 24–21, earning the prestigious Chief Minister’s Cup 2025 title.
The championship concluded on a high note, celebrating sporting excellence and paying tribute to the legacy of Atal Bihari Vajpayee through competitive sports.
