Odisha to Sponsor Indian National Kho Kho Team for Three Years

Odisha will sponsor the Indian national Kho Kho team for three years, from January 2025 to December 2027, with an annual budget of ₹5 crore. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made the announcement on Friday, stating that the funds will be provided by the Odisha Mining Corporation.

“This initiative will not only boost the morale of Indian Kho Kho players but also elevate Odisha’s global image through sports branding,” said the Chief Minister in a statement released by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

The move is part of Odisha’s broader commitment to promoting sports at both national and international levels. The sponsorship highlights the state’s ongoing efforts to support lesser-promoted traditional games like Kho Kho.

Odisha has already established itself as a major player in Indian sports by sponsoring Hockey India until 2036, coinciding with the centenary of Odisha’s formation as a state in 1936.

This latest development underscores Odisha’s growing reputation as a hub for sports development in India.
